China-Laos joint venture project of compound microbial fertilizer with an annual output of 200,000 tons was constructed by Xuanye (Laos) Co., Ltd. in cooperation with a state-owned enterprise Hunan Jinye Zhongwang Science and Technology Co., Ltd., and Planting Department of Laos Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, to provide high-quality technical services of agricultural modernization for the development of clean agriculture in Laos, with a view to improving the output, quality and international competitiveness of Laos’s products. With a total investment of USD 20 million, the project will cover a total area of 42 hectares and will be constructed in two phases. The first phase is to build a plant in Shawan Laji Province, Laos, covering an area of 20 hectares. The second phase will build a plant in Luang Prabang Province, Laos, covering an area of 20 hectares, and a comprehensive testing and research center will be built in Vientiane City, Laos, covering an area of 2 hectares.
The technology of compound microbial fertilizer conforms to Laos's three national major industrial policies of agriculture, environmental protection and high technology. The project will basically cover the planting fertilizer in Laos and increase the output of various crops by more than 20%. As a fertilizer approved by Laos Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, it will be promoted throughout the country to help Laos improve the soil effect, reduce production costs, improve the output and quality of agricultural products, accelerate the agricultural transformation of Laos and promote China and Laos to achieve another significant social, economic and ecological benefits. In March 2018, the three parties signed a memorandum of cooperation in Vientiane, and the cooperation project has been tested on a pilot scale with remarkable results. In November 2018, the three parties signed a formal cooperation agreement to start the construction of the first phase: a 200,000-ton microbial compound organic fertilizer plant. The fertilizer will be promoted to be used throughout Laos, creating a new field of clean agriculture development cooperation between China and Laos.
